SUMMARY

Andrew is a Notary Public, Solicitor Advocate with full Higher Court Rights, Chartered Arbitrator, and accredited Mediator.

Andrew qualified as a solicitor in 1980, becoming a Partner at Gowling WLG (UK) LLP (formerly Wragge & Co) in 1985. He retired in 2018. During his career he headed both the Employment Group and the Construction and Engineering Law Group. At the time of his retirement in 2018 he was Senior Commercial Litigation Partner. These roles brought active involvement in all forms of commercial dispute resolution and arbitration, domestic and international. 

He is now in practice as a Notary Public, Arbitrator,  and Mediator.

As Arbitrator, Andrew acts for parties in international arbitrations under the auspices of all the principal arbitral institutions including the ICC, LCIA, AAA, CIETAC CEDR and the Stockholm Chamber. 

He is regularly appointed by parties and arbitral institutions to sit as an Arbitrator in commercial disputes. 

He has a first class degree in law from Cambridge University, is a Scholar of the University, and holds an MA from the same University.

Andrew is fluent in French.

He holds non-executive directorships on the boards of a number of  organisations. These roles give him specific experience of issues facing such organisations on a day to day basis, enabling him to bring to bear his professional and business experience to assist strategic deliberations and decision-making at board level.

He is also a highly experienced commercial mediator and sat on the CEDR Commission for Settlements in International Arbitration under the chairmanship of Lord Woolf.

He is a past non-executive director of CEDR having served on the Board for 10 years.
